In addition to her paralegal duties in tax, accounting and litigation matters relating to trusts, estates and individuals, Ms. Sowa is an IRS Enrolled Agent eligible to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the IRS and an Accredited Estate Planner® as administered and maintained by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. She is also a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor through the Institute of Certified Bankers. Ms. Sowa is an accomplished author and lecturer who has frequently spoken on behalf of a number of organizations including the National Business Institute and the Institute of Paralegal Education.
Sheila M. Mints, Esq. is Chair of Capehart Scatchard’s Health Care Group and a Shareholder in the firm’s Wills, Estates & Trusts Group. Ms. Mints’ experience in healthcare transactional matters includes shareholder and employment agreements, purchases and sales of medical practices, including ACO and IPO transactions, and practice mergers. Ms. Mints acts as general counsel to many large practices and ambulatory care facilities, assisting with transactional, tax, human resources matters and negotiation with payors and vendors. Ms. Mints also handles governmental and commercial payor investigations and audits into health care billing and coding practices. An experienced tax lawyer, Ms. Mints represents her clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the federal Tax Court and state taxation departments in a variety of tax matters.
Yasmeen S. Khaleel, Esq. is an Executive Committee Member and Chair of Capehart Scatchard's Business & Tax and Wills, Trust & Estates Groups. Ms. Khaleel concentrates her practice in the representation of individuals, business owners, medical, dental and other professionals in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, business succession planning, transactional and tax planning. She routinely handles matters of special needs planning including guardianship applications. Additionally, Ms. Khaleel has experience in complex business, estate and trust litigation matters in conjunction with the Litigation Group.
